Guides&Logistics

Here is a list of guides that we have been in contact with. They have also contributed to making this web site possible:

  • Shota Elisashvili -- can rent out randonnée skis, English speaking, very experienced skier and guide, with a huge car. If you are writing in advance you can reach him at shotael@yahoo.co.uk, otherwise + 995-(8) 77-495 884.

  • Jomardi, an experienced group of guides, English speaking, offering guided tours.
Here is the relevant page of their Website

Good maps are always a problem. Some old Soviet military maps are available on CD-ROM. We may be able to help you. We strongly advise to bring a GPS.

There are inexpensive flights going to Georgia. Check our links page. Make sure that sensitive equipment (including your Avalanche Beeper) is very well packaged. Some equipment has been stolen at the airport.

Depending on your plans, you may need to get a driver. We can recommend the following:

  • Shota (see above), Nissan Diesel Patrol, very experienced in driving.
In Gudauri it is easy to get accommodation in guesthouses. This is also possible in Kazbegi. Check with your guides.

If you are coming from the outside, get in touch so that we can give you advice.
